Padraig Harrington was born a golfer. He came into the world on August 31, 1971 in Dublin, Ireland to two proud parents, Patrick and Breda. He was the youngest out of five boys growing up. You can only imagine what a rough time that had to be. His father made a living in a variety of ways. He was a police officer, as well as a Gaelic football player, boxer, hurler, and golfer. This is where he received his athletic ability from.

Although Padraig enjoyed playing golf early on, it did not become his passion until later on in his life. He mixed school with golf, focusing on accounting. He passed his exams in 1994 and worked for several years in this field. During this time, he was also enjoying a successful amateur golf career. Finally, he decided to turn professional in 1995 and joined the European Tour. After earning his tour card in 1996, he went on to make the cut at his first nine events. His first victory came at the Peugeot Spanish Open. His next couple of years were solid but not great. The European Tour treated Padraig well and opened the door for him to join the PGA Tour, where he currently plays.

So far in his golf career, Padraig has earned or won a variety of achievements, awards, and championships. He has four amateur wins, fourteen European Tour wins, and five PGA Tour wins. His most notable wins include the 2007 and 2008 Open Championship and the 2008 PGA Championship. It's important to remember that he is still young and seems to be just now at the peak of his game. With this said, there should be plenty more wins coming his way in the future.
